Damini Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy is a Nigerian raggae-dancehall singer and songwriter. The artiste was born and raised by a wealthy Family in the Garden City, Port Harcourt. He moved to Lagos after his primary school education and attended Corona, Agbara, for his secondary education. His education was furthered in the UK. It was during this time that he found his true calling to be music.
Burna, whose grandfather was Fela Anikulapo's manager, returned to Nigeria to work further on his career in music, breaking into the music scene in 2010, though he was more limited to port harcourt and environs at the time. However, his song "Like to Party", released after his move to Lagos, became quite the hit, and got the media's and public's attention fixed on his music. The buzz created by that song has not died down since then, as further songs have followed, cementing Burna Boy's status as one of the very best Raggae/Dancehall Nigerian acts.
The artist, is signed on to Atlantic records, and has three albums- “L.I.F.E.” which stands for “Leaving an Impact for Eternity”, "On a Spaceship" and "Outside" released in 2018. The artiste also has two mixtapes “Burn Notice” and “Burn Identity”, released in April and November 2011, respectively.
In 2013, he gained more airplay with songs like: #Yawadey, Run My Race, Smoke Some Weed which really enjoyed massive attention. These songs got him nominated for several big awards including the Headies in 2013/2014.
